Important Things to Know Before You Trek

Planning your journey through the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley? Here’s what you should keep in mind to make the most of this unforgettable adventure:

🛂 Permits & Guide
This is a restricted trekking area, so you’ll need a special permit, and trekking with a licensed guide is required by law. You’ll also need to be in a group of at least two people (don’t worry — we can help organize this if you’re solo).

🗓️ Best Time to Go
The best months are March to May and September to November — clear skies, great views, and fewer weather-related issues. Monsoon and winter treks are possible but come with extra challenges.

🏋️ Fitness Level
This is a challenging trek, especially with the Larkya La Pass sitting at 5,160 meters. If you’re in decent shapeand have trekked before, you’ll be fine — but come prepared for long days and some steep climbs.

🧠 Altitude Awareness
You’ll be hiking high, so acclimatization is key. Our guides are trained to spot early signs of altitude sickness, and we always take a cautious pace. If you’re not feeling well, speak up early — safety comes first.

🛏️ Accommodation
You’ll be staying in simple teahouses along the way. The rooms are cozy but basic — don’t expect luxury. In Tsum Valley, amenities are even more limited (think: no Wi-Fi, sometimes no hot showers). But the views and the warm-hearted locals more than make up for it.

💵 Bring Cash
There are no ATMs after you leave Kathmandu. Bring enough Nepali rupees for your snacks, drinks, charging devices, and occasional hot showers.🙏 Respect the Culture
Tsum Valley is a deeply spiritual place with a rich Tibetan Buddhist heritage. Dress modestly, walk clockwise around stupas and mani walls, and always ask before taking photos of people or homes.

🌦️ Be Flexible
Mountain weather is unpredictable. Sometimes plans shift due to landslides, snowfall, or health issues. A flexible mindset will help you enjoy the journey, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

🚁 Travel Insurance is a Must
Make sure your insurance covers high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation. It’s not just a formality — it can be a lifesaver.
