Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek Introduction

The Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is a premier high-altitude route traversing the remote eastern Himalayas of Nepal. Mount Kanchenjunga, standing at 8,586 meters, is the world’s third-highest peak and the second-highest in Nepal. Its name, derived from Tibetan, translates to “The Five Treasures of the Great Snow,” representing the five distinct summits said to hold treasures of gold, silver, gems, grain, and sacred texts. This majestic mountain, which borders Sikkim, India, is revered as a sacred deity by local communities.

While first summited in 1955, the surrounding circuit trek was later popularized by renowned mountaineer Peter Boardman, who described it as among the world’s most stunning trails. The journey offers an immersive experience into a region steeped in legend and pristine natural beauty.

Trek Highlights:

  • A full-circuit trek around the base of the world’s third-highest mountain.
  • Traverses a key section of the extensive Great Himalayan Trail.
  • Explores culturally rich, remote villages and diverse ecosystems within the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area.
